Ayurvedic Department, Punjab

Introduction

Ayurvedic Department came into existence in the year 1948 with 106 Ayurvedic dispensaries and at present is servicing in the state through a net work to 507 Ayurvedic dispensaries, 5 Ayurvedic Hospitals of ten beded, 17 Ayurvedic Swasth Kendras situated in the mainly for flung rural arrears.  There is govt. central Ayurvedic pharmacy, Patiala which manufature and supply the medicines to the State dispensaries and hospitals.

 Administrative Structure

The staff position at Directorate Ayurvedic, in 14 Distt. Ay. Officers, Swasth Kendras, Hospitals and Govt. Ay. Pharmacy & stores Pb. Patiala and Ay. Dispensaries is as under:

Under the Distt. level Plan scheme money is given to DAUOs through Dy. Commissioners and the drugs and equipments are purchased at their level.

For the progress of the Deptt. various schemes have been approved by the Govt. of India under centrally sponsored scheme and 100.00 lacs has been sanctioned for Drug Testing labs in the year 2005-06  by the G.O.I. and is under utilization.

At present there are 570 Ay. manufacturing pharmacies in the state out of which 220 are working under G.M.P. (Good Manufacturing Practice).
